Goal: Talk about events in the past .
Para formar el pasado simple con verbo regulares, usamos el infinitivo y añadimos la terminación "ed". La forma es la misma para todas las personas o pronombres (I, you, she, he, it, we, they).
Rule # 1. Para la mayoría de los verbos se les agrega ed.
Examples:
cook - cooked
stay stayed
travel traveled
Rule # 2. Si el verbo termina en e solo añadimos d.
Examples:
smile smiled
change changed
Rule # 3. Para los verbos que terminan en consonante + "y", se cambia la "y" por "i", se le agrega ED al final.
Examples:
study studied
try tried
carry carried
Rule # 4. Cuando el verbo termina en y antes de una vocal se le agrega ed.
Examples:
play played
enjoy enjoyed
Rule # 5. Para el verbo que termina en vocal y consonante, doblamos la consonate final y agregamos ED. (excepto "y". "x" o "w").
